Week 3 - Basic Main Menu Systems
VR Year 2 Blog » Devlog
I've decided to begin with the main menu mechanics, since they need to be present for the player to access the rest of the experience. I've outlined how I believe each of the fundamental aspects of a main menu (settings, calibration, play, and exit) will be implemented.
- In order to proceed to the next area through a door, the player must scan a card in a machine. After this the door will automatically open by playing an animation.
- If the player were to calibrate their height, they would need to stand in a machine, which would then ask them to stand in a T-pose before playing a scan animation. After this is complete, the game will have successfully calibrated the height.
- A control panel with various marked buttons that the player can press will cycle through the other miscellaneous settings like audio, graphical fidelity (where applicable), and movement.
- The player would exit through a door with a handle.
This fulfils the diegetic main menu task I picked for my project.
