Week 1 & 2 Progress

This is probably a much harder approach than most will take, but I made a door in 3D Studio Max, which I plan to use in the VR environment. I made the door, the doorknob, and the frame separate objects, which I hope will make interaction with it much easier. The top of the doorframe is evidently wider than the rest, which is frustrating, but I'll figure it out. I am trying to figure out how to texture everything before I export it to the game world.  If all else fails, I can always use a premade door :)

I also made a can, since I want to do the shooting gallery as one of my VR environments. Maybe I'll put a brand label on it.

After this, I'm going to attempt to create a simple revolver or rifle model. They are much more complex shapes, but if I model the parts separately it'll make things easier. I'll also make a bullet at the same time.

During last weeks workshop, I played around a little with a light in the game world, trying to figure out what each of it's parameters change. I also made a cone, and changed its material to one of the presets. I had a look at blueprints, but didn't make any changes, since I'm unsure whether or not I'll use the premade ones or start from scratch (if I'm even allowed to, that is.)

I want to gain some familiarity with terrain generation and editing, so I think that will be what I'm going to do next, since I feel it's an important skill to learn across all game engines, and a flat plane isn't all that impressive, and I plan to challenge myself so that I can understand what I am capable of learning in my spare time, and what I may need help with.

The gun models will be the most complex ones I have created so far, which will improve my 3D modelling competency.
